The Primary Care Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician Program
delivered by Flatline Response Inc. is
accredited by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the
Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP).
The CMA believes that relevant educational preparation is
critical to ensuring competent health professionals who can contribute
to effective and safe patient care as a member of the health care team.
CMA accreditation signifies that the Primary Care
Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician Program
has met national standards and that the education provided is relevant
to current clinical practice. Ensuring that
Primary Care Paramedics/Emergency Medical Technicians
have the required competencies for entry to practice is
an important contribution to Canada's health human resources.
This
program is competency based with Students assuming a greater
responsibility for their own learning. As an EMT student you will
be motivated and organized in order to meet the objectives of the program in the
designated time frame. Students are assessed by observing their
performance in conditions similar to those in an occupational setting.
Those items you learn and practice in the class days and from the modules are
things that a good EMT must have a working knowledge and understanding of in
order to provide the proper and effective patient care.
The
PCP/EMT also focuses on the aspects of patient assessment and care,
professional communication with other PreHospital professionals and hospital
staff, and the required procedures for proper charting and recording.
Students
are given the opportunity to learn and apply new pre-hospital skills in
practical based scenarios. Flatline Response utilizes a full range of
equipment including a full time on-site ambulance to prepare you.
Instructors for the course are personnel who are
currently registered members, in good standing, with the Alberta College of
Paramedics.
Emergency
Medical Responder Certification is one of the prerequisites for the Emergency
Medical Technician program.
Please download the
